S ep 2 00 4 Ferromagnet - Superconductor Hybrids

چکیده
A new class of phenomena discussed in this review is based on interaction between spatially separated, but closely located ferromagnets and superconductors. They are called Ferromagnet-Superconductor Hybrids (FSH). These systems include coupled smooth and textured Ferromagnetic and Superconducting films, magnetic dots, wires etc. The interaction may be provided by the magnetic flux from magnetic textures and supercurrents. The magnetic flux from magnetic textures or topological defects can pin vortices or create them, changing drastically the properties of the superconductor. On the other hand, the magnetic field from supercurrents (vortices) strongly interacts with the magnetic subsystem leading to formation of coupled magnetic-superconducting topological defects. We discuss possible experimental realization of the FSH. The presence of ferromagnetic layer can change dramatically the properties of the supercon-ducting film due to proximity effect. We discuss experimental and theoretical studies of the proximity effect in the FSH including transition temperature, order parameter oscillations and triplet superconductivity.

The transport properties of a ferromagnet–superconductor (FS) junction are studied in a scattering formulation. Andreev reflection at the FS interface is strongly affected by the exchange interaction in the ferromagnet. The conductance GFS of a ballistic point contact between F and S can be both larger or smaller than the value GFN with the superconductor in the normal state, depending on the r...

We study XXX Heisenberg spin 1/2 anti-ferromagnet. We evaluate a probability of formation of a ferromagnetic string in the anti-ferromagnetic ground state in thermodynamics limit. We prove that for short strings the probability can be expressed in terms of Riemann zeta function with odd arguments.

While Abrikosov vortices repel each other and form a uniform vortex lattice in bulk type-II superconductors, strong confinement potential profoundly affects their spatial distribution eventually leading to vortex cluster formation. The confinement could be induced by the geometric boundaries in mesoscopic-size superconductors or by the spatial modulation of the magnetic field in superconductor/...
متن کاملProximity Effects in Superconductor-ferromagnet Heterostructures
The very special characteristic of the proximity effect in superconductor-ferromagnet systems is the damped oscillatory behavior of the Cooper pair wave function in a ferromagnet. In some sense, this is analogous to the inhomogeneous superconductivity, predicted long time ago by Larkin and Ovchinnikov (1964), and Fulde and Ferrell (1964), and constantly searched since that. After the qualitativ...
